My partial guide to the L.A. County Fair

I had so much fun at the L.A. County Fair this year!  I went with family this year; it was both my cousin’s and my sister’s first time going to the fair, and they loved it.  I took a few pictures of my fun experience but not nearly as many as I would have liked to take (my battery was not fully charged).  But none the less, I wanted to share my experience for anyone who has not gone but is interested in going.

What I like about the fair…

I make it a point to go every year to go on their $1 days, which is the opening weekend of the fair.  I love attending their “End of Summer” Concert Series mainly because it is such a laid back setting.  L.A. summer afternoons call for a good outdoor concert.  I make sure to go with a wad of cash to hit up all the enticing food stands–yeah, it’s all about the food.  Food is really one of the main reasons to go to the fair because everything is enormous there… I mean, where else are you going to find grilled turkey legs the size of your arm?  You’ll find anything from grilled corn to ice cream and strawberry funnel cakes.  It is advisable to dress comfortable, wear sunscreen, bring a water bottle, and bring a simple bag you can carry everything in.  You might even want to bring a small blanket if you’re more inclined to want to lounge on the grass.  Get there early if there are any deadlines for the cheaper prices and make sure to grab a brochure because you’ll find their map and free show times handy ;-)

The L.A. County Fair runs from September 5th to October 4th and takes place at the Pomona Fairplex.   For more information about the fair or to purchase tickets or look up ticket specials, visit www.lacountyfair.com.
